I also went to the Library of Birmingham. Initially I went to see the Daniel Meadows exhibition, but the building was so large and impressive that I ended up spending a lot of time there, and didn’t end up going to the City Museum. It has nine floors, multiple exhibition spaces and two roof gardens.
I liked the decorative brickwork in the square around the library.
Which looks even more impressive from above.
The inside is like something from Borges. On the top floor is a wood-panelled room filled with copies of Shakespeare which has been taken apart, moved and put back together every time they have built a new library.
The building has two different terrace gardens . . .
. . . with a fantastic view.
