Next door to the National Museum and Parliament is the Postal Museum. I’m not really interested in stamp collecting, but I liked seeing the artwork and how stamps are made.

I got a coin of the same design from the penny crushing machine.

In the days before digital printing and etching, transferring the design to the small printing plate was a painstaking process.

The designs are actually drawn up pretty large on the original design, and then reduced down. You get more detail that way. My MA supervisor George Hardie did a lot of stamp designs over the years.

This was my favourite design.

Yellow is the post office colour in German-speaking countries.
