I was in Vienna on Mayday a few years ago. The Prater funfair is supposed to be the place to go on Mayday, with all kinds of entertainment. I went. It was hell.
While I was getting ready, the SPÖ (Austrian equivalent of the Labour party, with many of the same failings in the modern day) did a rally past my hotel window. They had two floats. It was gone so fast I didn’t even get the chance to take a picture.
The “entertainment” turned out be a clown and some bad DJs. There were massive queues for everything, and I didn’t actually end up doing anything. It was a great spot for field recording however.
Mayday Funfair
This is how the whole place felt.
I have this subconscious disgust for Mecki, a hedgehog cartoon character from the 50s. He reminds me of Fred West.
I hate him. He disgusts me.
