When the weather was good I also took the chance to go walking up in the mountain pastures (eine Alm in German). The main village is only about 400m elevation, but Mühlein where I took these photos is 561m according to Google.

There was also a weird shop that sold both gravestones and garden statues up there. Austrians are big into fancy graves.

Yes, that is a working model ski lift in someone’s front garden. Endless amusement for all passing toddlers. Or 37 year old English teachers.

Mega-chalets are also a thing in rural Austria. Like a taller version of the Irish mega-bungalow. There’s usually a few grandparents and cousins living there as well.
