Gommern is a small town in the former East Germany. Not much happens there, even the German Wikipedia doesn’t have much to say about the place. It was 40c when I was there, and the thought of doing anything in the daytime was unbearable.

Luckily the hotel was right next to a huge lake with sand dunes, which kept temperatures pleasant inside. Here’s the view from my balcony. Unfortunately every twelve year old boy I taught was right there outside my window swimming every afternoon.

The lake was a really nice place to go at night however.

The hotel also had this stone circle in the garden, with different kinds of rocks.
