Of the major train interchanges in Germany, Hamburg Hauptbahnhof is one of the most pleasant. Hannover is always really stressful, and Frankfurt is full of creepy men hassling you, but Hamburg is fine. There’s a long bridge over each end with the shops, and it’s a nice place to wait and people watch. I’m sure if you were interested in trains you could spot loads of different kinds, but I don’t know anything about trains. Instead I did some field recording last time I was there.
