Bischofshofen is a scenic mountain town in the Pongau region of Land Salzburg. The Catholic school I was visiting there was out of town in a grand former seminary building. It had only switched over to being a school a few years before and still felt very priestly.

The weather can be very changeable in the mountains, and we had a summer storm one night. Here’s my recording of the storm and church bells from my window.

It was really hot when I was there, so this was my preferred lunch. Watermelon is really cheap in Austria in the summer, this platter was only a few euros.

If you go up into the hills, the heat is more bearable.

There’s not much use for the ski-jump venue in the summer, but in the winter it hosts big competitions.

The music school announces its presence.

There’s a refreshing waterfall at the top.

Wheelbarrows to hire at the cemetery. Austrians take grave-tending seriously.
